When the 41st year is coming to a close , I gratefully remember the blessings of God Almighty , who made all achievements possible. I have great pleasure in presenting before you a brief annual report of our school for this Academic year 2014-2015.We started the new academic year in full swing as per our plan on june 2nd 2014. The fourth batch of 10thStd Students under the Continous and Comprehensive Scheme(CCE) came out in flying colours. All of them had opted to take up Board held final Examination and 10 students earned A1 in all subjects. The XIIth Std .Students also brought out an excellent result of their own. 21 students got distinction and23 got first class.
The CBSE has bestowed on us once again the responsible job of conducting Board Exams for Std X & XII, the 5th year in succession . The main block will remain as Exam. Centre from Ist March 2015 to the middle of April 2015
The role played by the Parent Teacher Association of our School in the day today functioning of our School is worth recording here. We are indebted to PTA executive Committee, presided over by Sri Bijoy Srambikkal , for effectively imparting information & guidance in all our activities .The PTA has provided funds for awarding merit cum means scholarships to deserving students to encourage them in their onward studies . 30 Scholarships were given this year.PTA sponsored Cash awards,Gold Medals ,Trophies and certificates to the students who excels in academic Performance in various subjects in Standard XII Board Exams.Those who won A1 in all subjects in Std X CBSE Examinations were also honoured in a colourful function Presided over by His excellency Mar Jose Puthenveetil, Auxiliary Bishop of Ernakulam- Ankamaly on june 20 th 2014 in the School Auditorium . We have to thank PTA for their sincere efforts to give a helping hand in the infrastructure development of this institution. We tried to orient parents in the upbringing of their children by providing orientation Talks by Dr. Anoop Vincent,who is a PTA member, & also by Sr. Little Therese.Though we had a very busy academic year, we are very much indebted to our parent body for their unreserved co-operation not only to conduct various activities but also for their personal presence whenever we call for it ,during our regular open house sessions.
The successful teaching depends essentially on the regular training imparted to the teaching staff. Effective implementation of the CCE programme depends on training of teachers in Scholastic & CoScholastic assessment . The School management makes use of every opportunity to send teachers to participate in various training programmes and workshops. Principal attended two days training programme organized by Confederation of Sahodaya Complexes in Kochi. Our teachers were also sent to attend training programmes by Agencies of CBSE , Seminars organized by the Management,and our Sahodaya. Three Days Orientation Programme was given to all teachers by Eminent trainers,Faculty from St. Joseph College of Teacher Education Ernakulam on 30th April,1st and 2nd May 2014. A CCE training Workshop was organized by Mac Millan Education, an empanelled Agency of CBSEon 13th September 2014.
A new Computer Lab and English language had started functioning this year.Our School Library is well equipped with more than 18500 book and is systematically run promoting reading habits. The Management is keen in developing the infrastructure especially this year by providing a lift for the main building and smart classes in all the KG classes.
The school was trying to improve its quality in academic, social, spiritual,& administrative aspects.The CMC management in its general level has implemented the assessment of Total Quality Management ie TQM . The School was visited by 2 Inspection teams from the Province & Generalate.An academic audit was conducted by a team from CBSE head by Sri Ram Sankar Joint Secretary CBSE Administrative section New Delhi which helped us to improve our CCE assessment practices.
Our school is in the fore front in extending our sevices to the deserving. We contributed Rs 50,000/ to Prime Ministers Flood Relief fund to help the victims of Flood in Kashmir.Our students extended their helping hand by collecting money and visiting oldage homes & rehabilitation centres contributing their share. A charity box is kept in every class to encourage their helping attitude.. Our students collected Rs 80000 to the children of Janaseva Sisubhavan .
The activities of our Children are not limited to our School Campus .They were given ample opportunities to showcase their talents by participating in various Quiz programmes,Seminars,Powerpoint Presentations etc. They were given chances to participate in various competitive Examinations like Brilliant Scholarship Examinations,Teachers Guild Scholarship Examinations, Sahodaya Scholarship Examinations, Sathia deepam Scholarship Examinations, Sugama Hindi Scholarship Examinations ,Oisca International talent test ,handwriting & colouring Competitions ,Drawing & painting Competitions , Chess competitions,& skating competitions. Kumari Keerthana .S. secured 2nd Rank & a Cash award of Rs.2001/ in Sathiadeepam Scholarship Examinations Gelin Maria of Std 1 secured 1st rank& a cash award of Rs 2001/,Dhanush Sankar P.J. of std 111 secured 1st rank and a cash award of 2501/and Ardra Manoj of Std secured 3rd Rank and cash Award of Rs 500/ in Brilliant Scholarship Examination. The School Youth Festival held on August 1st,2nd provided ample opportunities for our children to demonstrate their innate talents. The best performers were sent to participate in the Central Sahodaya Youth festival ie inter school youth Festival – Vismaya held at Vimala Public School Thodupuzha. About 50 students participated in it . Ramnath U-Classical Music,Ramkeerthan-Mrudamgam, Abhijith.K. V&Abhilash M Menon, --Quiz,Ann Rose M.J. –Essay writing won First Prizes & some Students won 2nd & 3rd Prizes & some A grade . In Sahodaya State level competitions, Ramnath U of Std XI won Ist prize in Classical Music,second in Mrudamgam & third in Violin,Feneeta Paul secured !st Prize in Malayalam Elocution & Ramkeerthan of Xth std. won 2nd prize in Mrudamgam,Eastern held in Sarvodaya central School Thiruvananthapuram. Ramnath U & Aswini Nath won Ist and 2nd Prizes for the Essay competition conducted by Sri Ramakrishna Mission . About 300 students participated in the Indepedance Day Rally organized by the Muncipality .Sara Rose Mathew bagged 1st prize in Essay writing, Priya Joseph got 2nd Prize in Speech competitions held in connection with independence day by the Municipality of N. Parur. Our primary students secured First Prize in National Anthem also . Anna Joshy & Feneeta Paul secured Ist Prizes for the speech Competition conducted in connection with Euphrasia Fest by CMC Vimala Educational Agency Ernakulam.
A separate KG Fest was organized in a grand manner & the tiny tots got the opportunity to perform their talents on 14th November 2014.
Regular classes in Physical Education & Yoga are being given to our students of all classes. A section of Students undergo training in skating,& karate once a week. Training in Art, Drawing,Music , & Dance is given to some extent. Though on a limited scale our students participated in interschool sports meet under Sahodaya Complex at Viswajyothi Public school Ankamaly. This year being the Canonization of St. Chavara & St. Euphrasia, a separate Chavara-Euphrasia Fest was celebrated on November 14th, with cultural programmes.Competitions like speech, Essaywriting,music,Quiz etc.were conducted for students & staff . The winners were awarded prizes.
The Annual Sports meet was held on 31st December 2014 on the School ground Sri S. Jayakrishnan C.I. of N. Parur was the Chief guest. Students were enthusiastic & really enjoyed it. Red House bagged the Champion House Trophy and Green House became runner up.
Study Tours and Field Trips have been arranged for all classes to places of importance.This year we arranged Tours to Ooty,Mysore-Kudaku, Banglore, Wonderla, ,Malampuzha, , Dream World, Silver storm etc. A Visit to Cochin University ,Science Department by Xth Std students was really interesting and informative . Exposure Programmes like Visits to old age homes &Special Schools provided opportunities for students to come face to face with realities of life as against the dream world they are presently enjoying. Some students visited Postal Stamp exhibition organized by Postal department in little Hearts Public School N.Parur. Our X th std. students organized a Pilgrimage to Ollur.
We provide guest lectures for the welfare of our students.Xth Std Students were given a Smart teen Programme By Accenta which dealt with self awareness ,study techniques,motivation etc. R.R. Careers gave a career guidance programme for classX & classXII . 3 days Christeen Programme for xtian students and a Value Education programme for non Christian students were given by Rev.Fr. Vincent Pereppadan S.J. & team. A Rosary Exhibition was organized by Mr Sabu Kaiter & family on Carmel day ie July 16th. The Awareness classe on the drug abuse was given by the Excise Inspector. A pledge on antidrug use was taken by the students on the Anti-drugs Day which was led by Excise Inspector. Janamaithri Police organized a Drug addiction campaign for the resident association leaders in our School. It was precided over by Our Muncipal chairperson Smt. Valsala Prasannakumar. Inauguration of the Anti Drug Campaign for the school students was organized by Janamaithri Police in our school. Our MLA Sri V.D. Satheesan, chairperson Smt. Valsala Prasannakumar, C.I.,DYSP ,Excise Inspector led the sessions.Teachers & students from neighbouring schools attended the seminar.
Special efforts are taken to improve speaking of English in the Campus. Two Special teachers from Goan Institute of communicative English are working on a regular basis for this purpose upto VIIIth Std.
Health & Wellness cum Anti alcoholic Club held an Essay writing & poster Designing competition.A Blood Donation camp, was arranged under the auspices of Health & Wellness club . An Eye Examination Camp was organized by the Rotary Club in association with L.F. hospital Ankamaly. A Cancer awareness Programme was Led by the eminent oncologist Dr. V.P. Gangadharan from Lakeshore Hospital. Shooting of A short film on Cancer was done with the co operation of our students. Music Day was observed & the School Music Club Staged programme of orchestral & vocal music. Our Eco club organized a Skit ,Speech, planting of trees , etc.on june 5th the world Environment Day. The exhibition Presented by the Eco Club was very much informative & creative. As part of Work Education , Book binding ,Thread work, cookery, painting etc. were taught. They were also trained in gardening & Sramadan. An active Red Cross is functioning here.Students of Red Cross Club participated in the Shramdan activities of the District Club. Lessons In Law are given to std IX as part of the Curriculum directed by Legal service Authority ie KELSA.A moke PSA Examination was conducted by Elixir Solutions, Thevarawhich helped our students to face the real PSA
As per our school tradition the school head boy and head girl were elected through the secret ballot. The process of polling was fully conducted by students led by the then school Leaders , NeerajChandrasseril& H.Aswini Nath.Aswini nath acted as the returning officer. Chances were given for conducting Meet the candidates , Election Campaign etc. Finally Ramanath U. & Jane Shilu were elected as the Head Boy & Head girl respectively . A colourful Investiture Ceremoney was conducted on 8th October 2014. Childrens clubs like DCL and KCSL are functioning in our School . Deepika Childrens’ leage N. Parur Zone was inaugurated in our School by Our Muncipal Chairperson Smt. Valsala Prasannakumar on 18-07-2014. Many of our students participated in in DCL Zonal level Competitions,KCSL youth Festivals and Secured prizes. Value Education Classes are provided regularly for every class.Moral Science Examination was conducted by school and toppers were awarded prizes .The school encouraged the students who got distinction in Moral Science by giving prizes. Our students creative abilities are enhanced by providing opportunities for preparing Classwise Manuscript Magazines ,Participating in debates , Project works ,power point presentations , movie making etc.
The School Celebrated various events like World Environment Day, Independence Day, Onam, Christmas, Teachers Day,Infant Jesus Day, Keralapiravi, Hindi Day, Childrens Day ,Music day , Chavara Day ,Euphrasia Day etc. A Quiz competition and Patiotic song competion were conducted in connection with the Independence Day. Classwise celebrations were also organized . Christmas was celebrated in a colourful manner by performing skits and Carol singing .Classwise celebrations were conducted by cutting cakes .
Besides the Prizes given by the School & PTA , the Management instituted four merit cum means Scholarships as CMC sesquicentennial scholarship to, a primary, middle school, secondary and a Higher Secondary student. We also thankful to Sri Jose Maliekkal,The Manager ,South Indian Bank who sponsored a special Trophy to a IV Std topper girl and for sponsoring Rs 5000/for giving prizes to our students . We specially thank Miss Mary M.K.for instituting endowment for Plus toppers & this year it goes to Kumary C.T. Femi & Silpa T.M.
